WHM setup of main reseller account

Post by vito »

Sorry for all the questions, Myles, but once I'm set up, I won't bug you so much :D

When I first set up with you, my main account was shown as waterhosting.com. So when I received a Welcome email, that's the domain it showed. But in WHM, it doesn't show up as an existing account. So I tried to create an account in WHM for waterhosting.com. Problem is that it gave me an error message saying that the username was already taken. So I tried again using a different username, then it wouldn't let me because it said there was already an existing account by that name. It suggested I go to http-conf to fix it.

My question is how do I get waterhosting.com set up properly to show in my WHM? I want to be confident that it's actually set up before I make DNS changes at my registrar.

Thanks for your help.

Your main domain will not ever show in WHM as far as i know to prevent users from finding ways to modify their accounts, and "hack" their way to new resources, etc. that have not been assigned to them. This is normal, to play with your account, login to CPanel/WHM with the username/password that you use for your reseller account on WHM.

I see, well I guess that makes sense. Although, months ago when I was using cpanelWHM I seem to recall seeing my main account in WHM. Perhaps I am wrong...

In any event, I can in fact login to my cpanel. But if I do not have access to my main account through WHM, how can I make changes to it (disc space, bandwidth, etc.)?

BTW, even though I have it checked off to notify me when a reply is posted to the thread, it is not sending me any email notification.

Not sure, it might have been a recent change, i know other people have asked though, but other people also indicated old accounts setup in CPanel as resellers also showed up in WHM.

Your main account, if you want to purchase more diskspace, etc. has to be done through us, you cannot just allocate more in WHM, you can only do that to new accounts, your main account shares the amount of diskspace/bandwidth that you purchased with your account with the other resold accounts.

And no, the forum doesen't seem to be sending out emails, it will be investigated sooner or later (as i'd like to be notified as well so we can all respond better/faster), but it is not a very high priority im sure you understand :).

I see what you mean. My main account shares the entire reseller account space with the resold accounts. I figured it would be assigned a fixed amount like all the others, but this will work just fine.

Yes I do understand. When you do get some time, have a look at http://www.netclectic.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=225 . You will be able to receive email notification (as admin) whenever there is a post to the phpbb forum.

Thanks for your help, Myles.

Ok,

Is that a bug in phpbb? because afaik we have it setup to send out notifications, etc. I'll look into doing that upgrade sometime :).

Well, you seem to have a specific problem with email notification to anyone. For instance, when I start a thread, I should get notified when someone responds. There's no bug. I know it works, since I have phpbb installed on my site and it works fine. So it must just be in one of your settings.

The link I provided is for a hack that alerts admin when any new thread/post has been made. This normally is not "standard equipment" with the off-the-shelf version of phpbb. You need to put this mod in to make it notify you.
