Please be advised of the following maintenance window:

Maintenance Window: Friday August 15th, 2025, 11:00pm - Saturday August 16th 2025 3:00am Eastern time
Facility: Tor2
Affected Device(s): core03.tor2, vxc01.tor1, vxc02.tor2
Affected Services: Tor2 core network/routing, Virtual Cross-Connect platform
Service Impacting: Yes - Tor2 network customers should expect to see short/intermittent connectivity losses throughout the maintenance window.

Details: As part of our efforts to modernize our core network and increase the availability of cost effective bandwidth, we will be upgrading/replacing the legacy core03.tor2 router with a new, considerably more powerful device. As the hardware platform is moving from Cisco IOS to Juniper JunOS, this upgrade requires a full rewrite of the routers configuration.

The new router has undergone extensive testing, with substantial portions of the configuration pre-written, and tested to the extent possible outside of the live environment. The new unit however still needs to be integrated into the Tor2 network; BGP customers and internal links need to be moved to the new device, etc.

We anticipate most customers in the Tor2 facility will experience several short/intermittent connectivity losses throughout the event, as these changes are implemented.

Customers who perform their own BGP routing, and are directly connected to the core03.tor2 router will see longer connectivity disruptions within this window as their physical ports/logical sessions/etc. are migrated.

We will also be performing a security related software update on the VXC -- Virtual Cross-Connect platform switches. This will require us to reboot the two switches in question (one in the Tor1 facility, the other in the Tor2 facility). PC staff will be present in both facilities, and try to reboot the devices in unison to minimize impact. Customers using the VXC platform for Layer2 cross-connects between the two facilities should expect to see a brief interruption in the VXC service while the devices reboot.
