Bogus Email

Post by simeon »

One of my clients got an email from their "support" department with a seeimingly official "confirmation" link to click on that goes here:

http://209.67.220.164/confirm.php?her_e ... s_was_here

Anything we can do to stop/block that?

Thanks.

Hi there Simon,

Unfortunatly in todays day and age, phishing scams (like the one you're noting), and SPAM email are simply part of the times.

While the user can indeed enable Spam-Assassin on their account to tag, and remove offending emails, it will never be 100% effective (as Spam-Assassin, and similar tools work based on rulesets, which have to leave enough slack not to catch legitimate emails, yet grab as much of the spam as possible).

Obviously its inevitable that some amount of SPAM will get through any system, given enough time and attempts).

Long and short, if you dont have Spam-Assassin enabled in CPanel for that account, consider enabling it. If you do, thats about all you realistically can do (unfortunatly).
