WHM won't start, complains of "Invalid Hostname"

Post by leeo »

When I try to access WHM at http://my_primary_ip/whm I get the following error message:
Invalid Hostname. (This account is currently not available.). Hostnames may not contains spaces or tabs.
Any clues on why this might be?

I don't know why it may be happening for you, but you can try:
https://my_primary_ip:2087/

The above is for a secure connection. If it doesn't work, try:
http://my_primary_ip:2086/

The trailing slash is important in the above examples.

Hi Leo,

This just means that WHM doesn't like the hostname set for the server (typically set to your resource number) and wants a Fully Qualified Domain Name (FQDN), such as "server1.yourdomain.com" where yourdomain.com is obviously the "primary" domain you'd be utilizing for the server overall.

Notably, topics like this (since it is service impacting) are likely best suited for direct email support, or our helpdesk (as the forums are more community driven, and have no guaranteed response after all).
