19-Aug-2004 - Peer1 & TorIX Connection Move 10:00am - 6:

Post by porcupine »

Hey Guys,

Switch and Data will be moving the final cross connects we have in the old 704 suite which had missed the initial move schedules (several times no less due to the cross connects not being run to the timeframes originally agreed upon).

As such, customers will notice throughout the day traffic re-routing around our Peer1, and TorIX links on 19-Aug-2004. Customers may notice intermittent periods of latency while connections are re-routed, and BGP sessions are started/stopped with the various providers over TorIX and Peer1.

Notably we will also be doing some route path changes at this time as many customers are still routing through an older router in the 704 suite, which we hope to remove once the cross connects are done. Customers on that router will simply be moved to one of the newer routers in the 707 suite, which should result in a few hiccups, but very little noticable downtime (few, if any periods over 30 seconds).

Notably the maintenance window is for an extended period, as we do not want this to go smoothly as the rest of the move has, but the actual maintenance itself should not take more then 30 minutes, with an expected downtime of less then 3 minutes, affecting only some customers.

Regards,
