This maintenance window is intended to notify all current customers that we will be performing maintenance on our primary UPS plant (UPS #1) in the 818 suite on Monday August 25th 2008, between the hours of 10:00am and 4:00pm EST.
Our electricians will be replacing the batteries powering UPS #1, with new larger batteries, which have a higher discharge rating. While the original batteries in the unit were brand new, and not functionally defective, we believe this to be a necessary step to protect the reliability of our power infrastructure long-term. The batteries which are being put into service are the largest capacity batteries commercially available for this application.
While we do not expect this to be a service impacting maintenance, the UPS unit will be operating on battery bypass, and should utility power fail at this time, there will be an interruption in services as the Automatic Transfer Switch (ATS) switches power from utility to generator.
Given that the city grid that 151 Front resides on is redundant, and has not unexpectedly lost power since 2003, we feel it’s exceedingly unlikely that there should be any cause for concern regarding this maintenance.
