www2 maintenance

Post by porcupine »

Hiya everyone,

As noted in emails to all customers on these servers, www2 and www3 had their kernels and other security upgrades done tonight (well more accurately, morning, they both started after 1 am), www3 had about 5 minutes of schedueled downtime, www2's kernel did not agree though as is running a little overtime on this maintenance window. We expect it up within the next 10-15 minutes, but for anyone wondering why it didn't come back up instantly after it's reboot, that is the reason.

I hope everyone understands the requirement for up to date software and kernels, but if you do not understand why companies like ourselves have to continually do this to keep your services secure, freel free to ask, and we will explain in detail why it is vital :).

www2 should have overrun it's maintenance window by approximately 15 minutes.

Regards,
