18-Apr-2009 - Scheduled 151 Front St. Facility/Power Mainten

Post by porcupine »

Hello Everyone,

This maintenance notice is being issued with regards to the annual 151 Front St. W. building hydro shut-down that is scheduled for 18-Apr-2009, with a maintenance window from 7:00AM EST until 11:00PM EST.

Once a year, 151 Front St. W. shuts down all of its utility power, and removes itself from the commercial power grid in order to perform extensive annual preventative maintenance on its core power infrastructure. During this time, all tenants within the building operate off their existing diesel generator/alternate power sources.

While customers should see no direct impact to their core services as a result of this maintenance period, we are issuing this as a precautionary notice, as extensive work is being done to building infrastructure with relation to the power systems.

Cabinet colocation customers should be aware of the following:
- Priority Colo staff will be retained on-site for the duration of this maintenance as a precautionary measure, and will be happy to help with any concerns (as always).
- Full unescorted access will be available as per normal; however customers can expect delays in signing in at the front desk, and signing in guests.
- Noise levels in the 818 suite will be elevated due to the operating generators on the mechanical suite above. Hearing protection (earplugs) will be provided as necessary.

For interested customers, a rough series of events is as follows:
- The building generator we reside upon will start, and be made available to our suite (our ATS will see both generator and utility power present).
- Our ATS will transfer its load from commercial power, to the generator. Our Air Conditioning units will reset (as they are not powered by UPS, by design).
- Utility power will remain available for ~30 minutes, to ensure there are no initial problems with the generator we reside upon.
- The building will shut down its core utility power, and perform infrastructure maintenance for ~10-12 hours.
- Utility power will be restored upon the completion of this maintenance.
- Our ATS will see both generator and utility power sources available, and transfer to utility power. Our Air Conditioning units will reset (as before).
- The generator will continue to run for ~30 minutes to cool down (and in case of post-maintenance utility failure).
- Maintenance window will be closed.

Customers who have any questions, or concerns with regards to this maintenance should contact me directly ( myles@prioritycolo.com ) for additional details.
