01-Mar-2014 - Tor1/151 Front St. Annual Power Maintenance

Post by porcupine »

Hello Everyone,

Please be advised of the following maintenance window:

Maintenance Window: Saturday March 1st, 2014, 7:00AM - Sunday March 2nd, 2014, 2:00AM Eastern Time

Facility: Tor1 - 151 Front Street West
Affected Device: Primary power feeds
Affected Customers: All customers
Service Impacting: No - Precautionary maintenance notice

Details: This maintenance notice is being issued with regards to the annual 151 Front St. W. building hydro shut-down.

Once a year, 151 Front St. W. shuts down all of its utility power, and removes itself from the commercial power grid in order to perform extensive preventative maintenance on its core power infrastructure. During this time, all tenants within the building operate off their existing diesel generator/alternate power sources.

This year, as some may notice, the shut-down is scheduled for longer then usual, spanning into the next morning. 151 Front St. will be moving its primary power feeds from the Windsor Hydro substation, to the new Bremner street substation, which has been constructed to accommodate the growing downtown Toronto load that the existing substations cannot handle. This will provide 151 Front Street with additional utility power to allow the installation of emergency chillers, new towers, etc. These new chillers/cooling towers will provide demand cooling and protection to the chilled water loop in the event of further Enwave incidents.

While customers should see no direct impact to their core services as a result of this maintenance period, we are issuing this as a precautionary notice, as extensive work is being done to building infrastructure with relation to the power systems. Because of the length of this maintenance, 151 Front management will be placing auxiliary generators on Station Street, and power the building load from these auxiliary generators, with the facility generators acting as a second layer of backup.

Cabinet colocation customers should be aware of the following:
- Priority Colo staff will be on-site during all power transfers to/from generator, and for the majority of the maintenance period, and will be happy to help with any concerns (as always).
- Full unescorted access will be available as per normal; however customers can expect delays in signing in at the front desk, and signing in guests, etc.
- Station Street (the street behind 151 Front Street) will be closed from 23-Feb-2014 - 03-Mar-2014 to the public, with safety barriers in place, as the building will be placing extensive/additional auxiliary generators and related equipment on-site.

Customers who have any questions, or concerns with regards to this maintenance should contact me directly (myles@prioritycolo.com) for additional details.
