Scheduled vxc01.tor1 Network Maintenance - 04-Dec-2014

Post by porcupine »

Hi Guys,

Please be advised of the following maintenance window:

Maintenance Window: Thursday December 4th, 2014: 11:50pm - 2:00am Eastern Time
Facility: Tor1
Affected Device: vxc01.tor1
Affected Customers: Physically connected customers
Service Impacting: Yes - Customers who purchase connectivity through the VXC platform between the Tor1 and Tor2 facilities will be impacted.

Details: We will be replacing the current vxc01.tor1 switch (Cisco 6503-E) with a new/higher capacity platform (Cisco 7606-S). This will enable deployment of 10GE linecards, additional modules, higher density, etc. on the VXC platform.

The new switch chassis has been pre-installed, and pre-configured. Cables to customer equipment will be re-terminated on the new switch, ports will be relocated, and customers will be sent new MRTG graphs for any of their vxc01.tor1 connections which have been moved to different ports.

We expect the maintenance will take less than 20 minutes during this window. Vxc02.tor2 will be upgraded in the same manner at another time/date which has yet to be determined.

Hello Lipak,

No, all of the reseller servers are based in the Tor1 facility. This will only impact dedicated/colocated customers who have gear spread out across both facilities, and use the VXC switching system to communicate VIA layer2 connections between the two facilities. Impact is very limited (and customers who were impacted were individually notified by email, we didn't want to spam the notice to all the non-impacted customers when it was easily avoided in this instance).

vxc01.tor1's maintenance has completed without incident, this maintenance period can now be considered closed.
