Scheduled Tor1 UPS Maintenance - 14-May-2016 - 8:45am

Post by porcupine »

Hi Folks,

Please be advised of the following maintenance window:

Maintenance Window: Saturday May 14th 2016, 8:45am - 2:00pm Eastern Time
Affected Device: UPS-B.tor1
Affected Customers: Web Hosting Customers, Dedicated Server Customers, Colocation Customers (on UPS-B.Tor1)
Service Impacting: No - Precautionary Notice Only

Details: We will be replacing the UPS batteries powering UPS-B.tor1 with new batteries. While the current batteries passed the last set of tests in March 2016 without issue, the batteries are nearing the end of their expected lifetime. Our last tests indicated the batteries would likely need to be replaced within the year.

While we do not expect this to be a service impacting maintenance, the UPS unit will be operating on battery bypass, and should utility power fail at this time, there will be an interruption in services as the Automatic Transfer Switch (ATS) switches power from utility to generator. As such, this should be considered a precautionary maintenance window. Batteries will be replaced on a shelf by shelf basis, and efforts will be made to minimize time on bypass. UPS-A.tor1 will remain untouched throughout this maintenance (as it has newer batteries which are not in need of replacement).

Regards,
Myles Loosley-Millman
