14-Oct-2004 - Teleglobe Link Status

Post by porcupine »

Hey guys,

Well as some people may have noticed, some people may not have, we got the Teleglobe link up roughly a month ago. I didn't want to post a full announcement regarding it until all of the testing was done and it was in full production mode.

So to anyone whose yet to notice, say hello to our latest upstream, Teleglobe. Teleglobe is very good for local transit in Canada, and has many fast connections to a vast array of providers in Europe. The most noticable change most people will immediatly notice is faster pings to Bell Sympatico, the only major provider in the Greater Toronto Area, whose pings took more then 30ms. Everyone should be experiencing pings between 10-20 ms to Bell Sympatico DSL from here on in.

This now places us at three transit providers (NAC, Peer1, Teleglobe), and over 30 peering partners at the Toronto Internet Exchange. I hope everyone's enjoying the new speed, and that the volumes of web-traffic you see goes up, even if insubstantially due to this new transit provider, and less latent connections.

Regards,
