Scheduled Tor1 network maintenance - 26-May-2018

Post by porcupine »

Hi Folks,

Please be advised of the following maintenance window:

Maintenance Window: Saturday May 26th, 2018, 12:01am - 1:30am Eastern Time.
Facility: Tor1
Affected Device(s): core02.tor1
Affected Customers: Tor1 BGP customers physically connected to the core02.tor1 router.
Service Impacting: Yes - Customers physically connected to the core02.tor1 router will see services impacted during this maintenance. This maintenance activity is not expected to impact any customers whose equipment is not directly connected to the core02.tor1 router.

Details: We will be rebooting/reloading the core02.tor1 core router, and applying an IOS update as part of routine maintenance. We expect the maintenance to take approximately 10-15 minutes within the specified time-window. We will be gracefully shutting down all BGP sessions before rebooting the router to minimize customer impact.

While the router is rebooting, we will also be opportunistically replacing many of the older network cables connected to core02.tor1 with newer Cat6a thin cables, allowing us to tidy and update a number of network connections. Replacement cables will be run & dressed in advance, and only unplugged while the router is rebooting, minimizing the impact from this maintenance.
