Service Impacting: Yes - Customers physically connected to core02.tor1 will see services impacted during this maintenance window. This maintenance activity is not expected to significantly impact customers whose equipment is not directly connected, though periods of latency and packet loss may occur due to traffic being re-routed, and re-converging across the network.
Details: Before the maintenance work commences, we will be steering traffic away from core02.tor1 by gracefully shutting down BGP sessions, and adjusting metrics to push bits over other links during the maintenance period to ensure the impact is as limited as possible.
We will be performing a software update on the core02.tor1 router. During this operation, the router's OS will be reloaded/rebooted.
While the maintenance window in question is 3 hours long to allow staff time to prep/test/etc., we expect the actual service impacting operations to take less than 30 minutes.
