Scheduled www2.pcdc.net reseller server replacement - 19-Jun-2026 - 11:00pm Eastern

Post by porcupine »

Hi Folks,

Please be advised of the following maintenance window:

Maintenance Window: Friday June 19th, 2026; 11:00PM - 6:00AM Eastern Time
Facility: Tor1
Affected Device: www2.pcdc.net shared/reseller hosting server
Affected Customers: Customers with shared/reseller accounts on the above noted server
Service Impacting: Yes - Full server migration
Details:

We will be replacing the existing www2.pcdc.net server, which hosts cPanel end-user, and reseller customers. While the hardware in the current server is still reasonably modern, the operating system in question has been on an extended support cycle for roughly two years at this point; While this provides long term stability, it represents a server full of older software, which potentially doesn't support desirable new features, etc.

The system is being replaced with a virtualized instance on our internal platform, as this will enable a number of Quality Of Life features which will help future-proof operations (IE: substantially faster reboots, system snapshots, faster/easier migration to new hardware down the road, future redundancy options, etc.).

In addition to this, the new server will be running Cloundlinux 10, which should help further address system stability questions, by isolating resource contention between accounts/resellers/etc. on a more granular basis (IE: cpu/memory/SQL/IO limits, to help reduce the events where overly busy/run-away accounts impact others, and reduce instances of "noisy neighbours").

The migration will begin at 11:00pm, and we will be shutting down email on this system for the duration of the migration to help avoid duplicate/lost/missing messages during migration. We will use the cPanel migration tools, to transfer the accounts to the new system, and post updates both on our forums ( https://forum.prioritycolo.com ) , and our twitter account ( https://www.twitter.com/pcolomaint ), as the operation proceeds.

Note: accounts on the new system will default to PHP 8.5 (latest stable), but will have PHP v8.4, and v8.3 available for customers who run into any issues with v8.5. SQL (MariaDB) will be migrated from v10.3, to v10.11, and we will make considerable effort to otherwise maintain consistency between the old and new servers in terms of panel/feature-set/etc.

Customers who encounter issues after migration should open helpdesk tickets (IE: emailing either support@prioritycolo.com, or interacting with our helpdesk @ https://helpdesk.prioritycolo.com ), to ensure any issues get resolved promptly.
