Switch #1 and #2 Power Swap - 03-05-2003

Post by porcupine »

Hey again guys,

Well, a sloppy mistake is coming back to bite me in the arse. on Wednesday March 5th, between the hours of 08:00 through to 04:00 on the 6th, we will be briefly swapping the power configuration for Switch #1 and #2. Pre-planning gone wrong you could say.

We're going to push this as far into the wee-morning hours as possible. We're also configuring them to do the "fast negotiation" (anyone whose ever worked with cisco switches should know how long it takes to establish a connection, 30+ seconds unlike a desktop hub/switch) to minimize downtime.

Expected downtime is less then 5 minutes. We'll just be re-routing the power cables for these two, no other changes will take place with the switches (no configuration changes, etc.). Miscellanious other cable re-routes will be taking place during these hours, but should have minimal if any effect on connectivity (refastening of a few cables, etc. just general cleanup).

Unfortunatly due to unforseen circumstances (electrical socket related), the power switch has been postponed until Friday or Saturday night/early-early morning for your convinience.

Our appologies on this one.
