www2, www3, www6 maintenance - 09-Feb-2005 - 10pm - 6am EST

Post by porcupine »

Hi guys,

We will be performing various hardware upgrades between 10:00 PM EST on 09-Feb-2005, and 06:00 AM EST on 10-Feb-2004 to the www2, www3, and www6 reseller servers.

The upgrades are as follows:

www2 - replacement of bad backup drive
www3 - additional memory
www6 - additional memory

While as always, this window is fairly broad, the expected impact of this maintenance is less then 15 minutes per server.

The additional memory being added to the www3, and www6 servers will help increase available capacity for existing customers, helping to better balance the available CPU, vs. available memory; while the replacement backup drive for the www2 server will ensure that backups remain on track.

If anyone has any questions, please dont hesitate to ask, aside from that, thank you for your patience as always.

Regards,

Maintenance has been completed on the www2 server, which now has a new backup drive (and the old one obviously removed), and the www6 server, which now boasts a whopping 3GB of DDR ECC Registered memory.

The www3 server has completed its physical maintenance run, but is being somewhat sluggish and stubborn on the boot process. It looks like it'll still be taking a few minutes to boot (it's attempting to FSCK the one of the partitions currently [File System Checker], and appears to slowly be making progress).

Maintenance across all servers (including www3) is now complete.

Lets hope these upgrades hold for another good chunk of smooth sailing :).
