www2 maintenance - 13-Apr-2005

Hi guys,

We'll be replacing the NIC on the www2.pcdc.net server some time later today, between 7:00pm and 2:00am. I expect the operation to take 5-15 minutes of downtime. For some time, the www2 NIC has been unable to achieve the sort of speeds we should expect out of a decent 10/100 NIC, specifically during offsite backup procedures. As such, we'll be swapping out the 3com with a new Intel Pro 100/S NIC.

This should help alleviate any bottlenecks experienced in relation to transfer speed on the www2 server.
