09-09-2003 Network Monitoring Oops! (1:40am - 3:00am)

While performing relatively routing testing and maintenance on the primary webserver (that serves www.prioritycolo.com, some of the MRTG graphs, and the network monitoring system), a configuration glitch disconnected it from the network, while the server remained up and running.

As a result, some of you on sw1 and sw2 (sw1 is not sw01 mind you, different switches) will see a 1.5 hour lag in your MRTG's, then a big spike and everything returning to normal. Additionally you may have received an incorrect notice from the network monitor indicating you had problems with your server. This was most likely incorrect, and simply generated by the fact the network monitoring server was turned on, but not able to properly access the network.

My appologies go out to anyone this has inconvinienced, especially anyone whose emergency pager sent out a needless, and inaccurate page to.

Regards,
