27-Oct-2004 - Reseller Servers - Replacement / Upgrade

Hi guys,
Well as some people may have noted, some of our reseller servers are resonably new, and high powered (eg. www2, www3), while others simply are not (www4, www5, and www6). This is simply due to age. The latter of the servers are more lightly loaded, with fewer customers, substantially less load, and perform quite acceptably as we keep those loads low.
Unfortunatly, they are beginning to show their age versus the current technologies. With this, we intend to move all customers from the old servers, to a substantially faster, and newer server. We will be provisioning a new Dual Opteron 242 server to replace all three of the old servers (we may provision a second if it is found to be necessary). It will have the following specs:
Dual 64 Bit AMD Opteron 242 Processors (1.6GHZ @ 64 Bit Each.)
1GB DDR400 Dual Channel ECC Registered RAM (Capacity of 8GB)
1 x 73.4GB Ultra-160 SCSI Drive, 10k RPM
1 x 120GB Serial ATA 150mb/sec drive
Fedora Redhat Core 2
CPanel/WHM
This should be more then enough power to cover the needs of all of the old users from the three above noted servers with ease, but we have additional ones available if this estimate is incorrect.
All customers directly on the www4, www5, and www6 servers should receive a notice from us shortly, we will be handling all of the details of this migration, and will likely perform this in a manner which is reasonably transparent with minimal downtime as customers are moved on a case by case basis, and are currently planning the most basic, yet unimpacting method of performing this migration.
If anyone has any questions, please let me know.
Regards,
