10-Apr-2005 - www5 Upgrade - Dual Xeon

Post by porcupine »

Hi Guys,

Well it looks like the time to upgrade www5 has come. With both www4, and www6 sucessfully upgraded without too many issues, we're going to upgrade the last single CPU server, www5.

As such, I've scheduled the maintenance period for 10-Apr-2005, between 1:00am and 6:00am. As with the other two servers, I expect the impact to be one to three outages, between 5 and 15 minutes of downtime each. All of the user data has already been synchronized to the new dual xeon, it's just a matter of re-syncing one last time, and then turning up the new server.

This will bring all of the reseller servers up to speed, with www2 and www3 being dual AMD MP based servers, and www4, www5, and www6, all being dual Intel Xeon 2.8 based servers.

Lets all hope for a smooth move :). If anyone has any questions, please don't hesitate to ask :).

Regards,

Well guys, the move is complete. www5 is now a dual xeon 2.8ghz, and it went reasonably smoothly no less :). If anyone has any current service problems, or notices any bugs/glitches, please do not hesitate to email me at admin@prioritycolo.com. If anyone experiences any serious service-impacting issues, please dont be afraid to email the emergency pager (see contact page, last thing I want is bots harvesting the emergency address).

Hope everything remains smooth, and everyone enjoys the luxury of the new servers :).

Well it looks like we missed some of the CPanel Themes (they showed as installed, but didn't work) which prevented users with the "monsoon" and "bluelagoon" themes from logging in. I've replaced both themes, and manually reinstalled the WHM themes just to be certain. Anyone who could not login to CPanel properly as a result of this should be all set now.
