16-Jan-2009 - Scheduled Network Maintenance 12:01am - 2:00am

Post by porcupine »

Hi Guys,

This maintenance notice is intended to inform you that we will be performing maintenance on our core02.tor1 core router on Friday January 16th 2009, between the hours of 12:01am and 2:00am EST.

During this maintenance window, we will be upgrading the main supervisor card in the core02.tor1 router to a Sup720-3BXL, to help grow network capacity, and facilitate future growth (both in the diversity, and raw capacity) of this core router. We will also be replacing the gigabit blades in the unit, with higher density gigabit blades.

BGP sessions with Tiscali, Global Crossing, and T-Systems will be offline during this time; BGP traffic which normally traverses those links will automatically be temporarily re-routed to our other transit providers, until the maintenance operation has concluded.

BGP Transit customers who are directly connected to the core02.tor1 router, can expect to see traffic interrupted during this maintenance. Customers who are not directly connected, should see no interruption in services.

We expect this maintenance operation to last for 15 to 30 minutes during the window in question, pending there are no unexpected incidents.

Regards,
Myles Loosley-Millman

Hi Guys,

Just to let everyone know, the network maintenance scheduled for 16-Jan-2009 12:01am - 2:00am has concluded, as per schedule.

Unfortunately due to unforeseen issues surrounding what we believe to be a bug in the Cisco isis protocol, we were unable to complete the swap of the supervisor card in our core02.tor1 router. During this maintenance, some customers on our dist02.tor1 distribution switch experienced unexpected disruptions in their services, which were not originally anticipated during this maintenance.

We are currently investigating this incident, and will be scheduling a maintenance window to complete this upgrade operation once we have determined the exact cause of the aforementioned issue.

Regards,
Myles Loosley-Millman
