15-Jul-2009 - Scheduled UPS Maintenance - 1:00pm - 5:00pm ES

Post by porcupine »

Hi Guys,

This maintenance window is intended to notify all current customers that we will be performing maintenance on our primary UPS plant (UPS #1) in the 818 suite on Wednesday July 15th 2009, between the hours of 1:00pm and 5:00pm EST.

Our UPS service contractors will be performing extensive testing on our battery plant, in an effort to ascertain the current health, and status of the batteries, and preemptively guard against potential future issues, and obviously protect our investment.

While we do not expect this to be a service impacting maintenance, the UPS unit will be operating on battery bypass, and should utility power fail at this time, there will be an interruption in services as the Automatic Transfer Switch (ATS) switches power from utility to generator. As such, this should be considered a precautionary maintenance window. Because this is the first time we’ve had such extensive tests run on the battery plant, we’ve opened a relatively long maintenance window, as we’re uncertain exactly how long the tests will take.

Just an update for everyone, maintenance on the UPS-1 battery cabinet has been completed successfully, no faults were detected, and all of the batteries checked out.

This precautionary maintenance period is thus closed.
