20-Mar-2010 - Generator Testing & Maintenance
Posted: Sun Mar 14, 2010 11:44 pm
Hi Guys,
Please be advised of the following maintenance window:
Maintenance Window: Saturday March 20th 2010, 7:00pm - 11:00pm EST
Affected Device: Primary power feeds
Affected Customers: All customers
Service Impacting: No - Precautionary maintenance notice
Details: Building management will be performing a simulated main power failure, in order to test the generators, and Priority Colo’s Automatic Transfer Switch (ATS), thus performing a full load generator test. Building management will open the circuit breakers at our mains, allowing our ATS to transfer load and start the generators, as would happen in a real power failure. During this maintenance, our Uninterruptable Power Supplies will carry all critical/server load, until the generators have started, and are ready to accept the load. Building management has pre-checked fuel levels in the day tanks, and reserve tanks, and will have numerous contractors on-site in case of incident. In the event of critical failure, commercial power will be immediately restored. Priority Colo staff will also be on-site for the duration of this maintenance as a precautionary measure.
For those who may notice this is effectively a repeat of the maintenance done this past Saturday March 13th, during which we experienced some anomalous readings that warranted further investigation. Given this, the building has agreed to perform a more in-depth test to investigate any potential issues, and ensure we're able to resolve them as quickly as possible.
Regards,
