Hello Everyone,

Please be advised of the following maintenance window:

Maintenance Window: Monday September 13th, 12:01AM - 4:00AM EST

Affected Device(s): Reseller/Shared servers - www2.pcdc.net through www7.pcdc.net (inclusive)
Affected Customers: Customers with shared/reseller hosting accounts on these servers
Service Impacting: Yes - Software updates will require several reboots, customers can expect to see 1-3 short outages per server, while software is recompiled, the servers are rebooted, etc.

Details: We will be performing the following changes, and updates to the reseller servers in general, as part of our regular maintenance and upkeep:

- Kernel updates will be applied to all servers (requiring a reboot)

- PHP will be updated to version 5.2.14 (latest stable in the 5.2 train), and we will be adding some new modules to some of the servers, in an effort to standardize the module list across all servers.

- We will be enabling the "CPanel SMTP Tweak" to the reseller servers. This tweak -- A change in the systems firewall rules/policies, will only allow the default server Mail Transport Agent (MTA) to send emails from the server. This means that direct connections outbound on TCP port 25 will be denied, and only sendmail/exim can send email outbound. This will help prevent incidents of abuse, SPAM, etc. as compromised users, will no longer be able to bypass the 2500 emails/hour limit, etc.

Customers who have questions, or concerns regarding these changes should email admin@prioritycolo.com in advance, to clarify as required.

Regards,

The kernel, SMTP tweak, and Apache/PHP upgrades have been completed on all of the reseller servers without incident. This maintenance period can be considered closed.
