Scheduled Network Maintenance - 20-Jan-2012 - 11:59PM

Post by porcupine »

Hi Guys,

Please be advised of the following maintenance window:

Maintenance Window: Friday January 20th 2012, 11:59pm - 4:00am EST
Affected Device: core01.tor1
Affected Customers: physically connected customers
Service Impacting: Directly connected customers - Yes, Everybody else - Precautionary Notice Only

Details: We will be performing a long planned replacement of the core01.tor1 core router. The new router will be an upgrade from the existing Cisco 6503-E chassis, to a new Cisco 7606-S chassis. This upgrade will help grow Priority Colo's network capacity by providing a higher gig port density then previously available, doubling the number of line card slots, and adding 10 gigabit ports to our network for internal interconnects.

This maintenance can be considered precautionary, customer bandwidth/transit routes will be routed around the core01.tor1 router during this maintenance, aside from having fewer BGP paths available, customers should not be impacted by these operations in any discernible manner.

Customers who are directly/physically connected to core01.tor1 router (BGP customers only, whose MRTG graph URL(s) include "core01.tor1") will be impacted as the router is being physically replaced. Physically connected customers can expect to see a 30-45 minute outage as a result of this maintenance.

This maintenance window can now be considered closed. Unfortunately we ran into some issues prior to the service-impacting portion of the maintenance, which could not be resolved within the time-frame of the maintenance window.

We will be working on the new core01.tor1 router, troubleshooting the error(s) that came up, and reschedule the maintenance once we have resolved the issues.
