Emergency maintenance will take place on www1 through www6 tonight. Expected downtime is 2-5 minutes per server to patch security holes that resulted from the linux 2.4.20 vulnerabilities that were announced yesterday.

Maintenance is complete,

We slipped another 512MB of ram in WWW4 to help give it a larger buffer to deal with recent issues it's been having with memory. This maintenance was to patch the ptrace vulnerability in linux 2.4.20 and under (latest kernel and older ones too). Please note that this was only a patch on the kernel (as we're already running the latest stable kernel), and a upgrade will likely be coming soon (resulting in another reboot for each server), as theres been some compatability issues with this latest patch, while they do not affect the functionality of the server, they are annoying to the administrators.

Anyhow, patching is necessary, better to be safe then sorry.
