Perl 5.8

Is there anyway I could get perl 5.8 installed on www4? (Even if it meant a local installation, that would be ok) I need to do internationalization and 5.6.1 has patchy Unicode support. (Most importantly, s// tr// and m// don't work properly, as well as functions like split) I can work around it, but it would be much easier with Perl 5.8. (5.8 brings Perl's i18n functionality much closer to Java's)

Built in my home directory, works great.
