Hi guys,
Well as always, we've been busy at work. We'll soon be offering backup services, limited to the network for the first run, but we will eventually open the doors (and firewall rules) a bit further as time progresses.
The new backup server has the following specs:
Dual Intel Xeon - 2.8GHZ
1GB DDR ECC Registered memory
8 x 250GB SATA 7200 RPM, 8MB Cache Drives
3ware 9500-8 RAID controller
Chenbro 16 x SATA hot-swap chassis
This is being configured in a RAID 5 array, with 7 drives in the array, and 1 drive as a hot spare (which the array will rebuild from degraded status to automatically given a drive failure). This will provide for up to two 1.5 TB arrays for backup1.prioritycolo.com, which can suffer the loss of two drives [per array] before becoming critical and loosing data, with all hot-swap drives enabling quick drive replacement (for when drives fail, as they assuredly will over time), with background-rebuilding ensuring that no downtime is necessary during such events.
We will be providing RAID based backup space to existing customers upon request, and are still fleshing out the price. Pricing will be roughly between $0.50/GB and $0.75/GB USD for backup space for customers who have existing services (Dedicated/Colocated/Hosting), and will be accessable from the internal network only initially. We will be heavily restricting this server to ensure maximum security, and limiting the protocols offered on the server (likely to simply rsync and FTP).
Presently the backup server is onsite with one array loaded (the second 1500GB array will be installed using the hot-swap bays once the disk usage justifies it), and we are simply begining the intial configuration stages for this server (which will take several days as we are still fleshing out the concept/design/deployment of this new service).
